Movie Trailer Roundup (10-03-18)
Good day everyone, I’m starting a new segment every Friday(or in the case of today, Wednesday), where I’m going to post and give a short review of every relevant movie trailer that comes out during the week. And since we’re in October and starting to get into oscar movie season, it’s going to be a fun rest of the year, so here we go. This was a pretty solid week for trailers I must say, we finally got a trailer for Vice with Christian Bale and Sam Rockwell and a teaser for the Elton John movie Rocketman.
5) Holmes & Watson
I’m not going to lie to you, this movie is probably going to be trash, but Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are back it again in their first major film together since Step Brothers. This movie is just a comedy about Sherlock Holmes and his partner, I don’t know, there might be a few laughs in it.
4) Rocketman
Alright finally a biopic about Elton John’s life. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m getting a little fed up with biopics. They all have almost the same feel and structured story. I understand it’s hard to break away from that structure, but I wouldn’t mind a different formula. With that being said this doesn’t look too bad. Elton John is one of the greatest artists of all time and is still very well alive, so hopefully we’ll be able to get as much adversity an information that we can in this movie. And from the trailer, Taron Egerton(Kingsman) does look a lot like Elton John in his younger days, so I’ll try and go into this movie with a positive mindset.
3) The Upside
The on-screen duo that everyone thought was going to happen; Bryan Cranston(Breaking Bad) and………Kevin Hart(Everything in the last 5 years)? Ah well it’s great to see Kevin Hart back in another movie, nobody has had enough of him yet. But his role actually isn’t comedic? and it’s a little more serious? Well there’s a little comedic undertone, but still it’s an improvement. I’m going to hold my breath, but this movie has a chance to be good, it has Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman.
2) Wildlife
What seems to be the last trailer for Wildlife before it comes out October 19, this looks like it is going to be amazing. Already touting a 100% on Rotten tomatoes. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal(Donnie Darko) and Carrie Mulligan(An Education), this looks like an extremely heavy movie about a crumbling marriage through the eyes of their son.
1) Vice
And finally, the biggest trailer of the week. Vice is one of the most anticipated movies of the year and for good reason. This movie is from academy award winner Adam Mckay(The Big Short) and is about how former Vice-President Dick Cheney became one of the most powerful men in the world, and how his policies are still impacting us today. Academy award winner Christian Bale(The Fighter) who plays Cheney has once again transformed himself, and looks almost identical to the former vice-president. And academy award winner Sam Rockwell(Three Billboards) who is playing George W. Bush may not look exactly like him, but his voice and mannerisms of him are spot on. Other actors include academy award nominee Steve Carell(Foxcatcher) and five time nominee Amy Adams(The Fighter). If this movie doesn’t win multiple awards during awards season, I’ll be shocked.
