San Francisco Giants vs Oakland Athletics 7/20/18 9:35 PM
Starters: Dereck Rodríguez 4-1 2.89 ERA vs
Edwin Jackson 1-1 2.58 ERA
The Oakland A’s open the second half of the season with a series against the Giants. Both teams come into the second half of the season with respectable records both above .500 with the Giants posting a 50-48 record and the A’s having a record of 55-42. This could be the first time in a long time that the A’s may be looking to add a few players during the second half of the year instead of them usually selling away all of the bright spots on their squad. Both teams are in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs.
Oakland comes into this game winners of 7 of their last ten contests, and took two of three in San Francisco before the All-Star break. Jackson comes into the game allowing two or fewer earned runs in all four of his starts for the A’s. The team as a whole has been killing the ball behind All-Star Jed Lowrie and Khris Davis who leads the squad with 21 home runs in the first half. The team as a whole have combined for 127 long balls which has them ranked 6th in the MLB.
I can see both starters going deep into this game with only allowing a few runs, so if you are looking for a total I would have to think that this game will go under the posted 9 runs. When picking a winner in this game it is pretty easy for me to just ride the wave that the A’s have been on and that is exactly what I will do. They have been hitting tons of extra-base hits and have been hitting the ball very well in situations with runners on base. Having won 21 of their last 27 games, I will ride this incredible wave that the A’s have been on and will take the Athletics on the money line.
PICK: Oakland Athletics -130
